As of now every venue at THE FEST 8 is 18+ except 1982 and The Kick Stand. This is a rule of the city of Gainevsille.? We are awaiting the City of Gainesville to give us an official statement on if parents or legal guardians can bring minors with them to the 18+ venues.
Durty Nelly’s is always 21+!!! No exceptions even with a parent or legal guardian.
EVERYONE ATTENDING FEST 8 MUST HAVE A VALID ID WITH BIRTH DATE TO GET INTO ANY OF THE VENUES. NO EXCEPTIONS!!! If you don’t have a driver’s license then you must have a legal ID or Passport. College IDs will not work.
All of the venues are in walking distance. The Venue, The Atlantic, Market Street Pub, Common Grounds, Durty Nelly’s and The Kickstand are all in a four block radius. 1982 is about 11 blocks from the Atlantic and 8 blocks from The Venue. These are all walking blocks. Gainesville has a very small downtown. We will also be doings a show on the campus of University of Florida. More info on that soon.
The Gainesville Regional Airport is a quick cab ride to downtown. They mainly use Atlanta as a hub. Check there, but Jacksonville, Tampa, or Orlando are usually cheaper.
Also, check out: Runways. It is a shuttle service that runs from Jacksonville/Orlando Airport to Gainesville and back daily. Pretty cheap if you book 4 folks together plus you can sleep in the A/C.
Gainesville also has a Greyhound station that is in walking distance from downtown or a short cab ride.
Nope.
Nope. In fact, if we sell enough FEST 8 weekend passes we might have to not allow individual door prices for shows. So, in simpler terms: If you want to just go to see the certain shows then just check the FEST 8 website before you head to Gainesville. I would just quit your job, buy a weekend pass and see a ton of bands. But that is just me and I’m crazy like that.
The deadline to submit band applications for FEST 8 has expired. Please do not email, call or send anything to No Idea Records concerning wanting to play FEST 8.
All interested parties should contact the Official Fest 8 Photography Overlord, Lindsay Beaumont (photos@thefestfl.com) with portfolio samples and details about previous work. We can only accept a limited number of FEST 8 Photographers and their mission is to document the entire FEST 8 experience, so experience with bands/live music is not necessary but obviously helpful.
21 and up can drink at the venues. 2am bars close on Friday and Saturday. 11pm on Sundays. You can buy beer and wine up til 2am on Friday and Saturday at convenience stores. On Sundays you can not buy booze anywhere until 1pm and it stops at 11pm. ABC stores and Gator Beverage sell liquor up to 9pm and not at all on Sundays. There are no open containers allowed in Gainesville.
All that info will be stashed in your official FEST 8 guidebook. If we get it done in time we might sling it up on the site.

If you live in the Gainesville area and want to help out and be a part of THE FEST 8 here is your chance. THE FEST 8 is looking for kick ass, friendly, and serious volunteers. Volunteers are always needed the weekend of the fest. We offer a free pass to anyone who works a shift the weekend of. You will also get a FEST 8 shirt that no one else can buy. A shift runs about 6 hours and is anything from working registration, the door, helping bands load equipment, to being a rock star stage manager.
Volunteer signup meetings will not be announced until sometime in September and are usually held in the beginning of October. If you would like to be informed when these sign up/ information meetings will be held or have any questions please email your full contact info to: volunteer@thefestfl.com.
We will be doing THE FEST 8 Flea Market at the Holiday Inn once again this year! It will be set up in the same area as registration so you will have everyone who attends/ plays/ volunteers passing through the area you are setting up at. Please click here for more information and application for the FEST 8 FLEA MARKET.
