Here's the skinny on the Holiday Inn

It’s the official FEST 11 hotel, meaning that it is the working hub and epicenter of the fun and insanity of the weekend. Everyone must come here for Fest registration, and it will be hoppin’ just like the last four years with drinks flowin’, flea market wares hawkin’, pool partyin’, grills raging, and tons of friends hangin’. It’s probably going to be slamming the whole weekend, so don’t stay here if you are expecting to get a peaceful night’s sleep - you’re liable to run into a little room party or thirty.

Everyone staying at The Holiday Inn should know: ALL HOTEL ATTENDEES WILL BE GIVEN WRISTBANDS UPON CHECK IN. THESE WRISTBANDS MUST BE WORN ALL WEEKEND. MAXIMUM OF FOUR WRISTBANDS PER ROOM.

Why is it $169 a night? The Holiday Inn has to account for a number of extra features, one of which will be extra hired security who will patrol the hotel throughout The Fest 11. If they find people roaming the hotel after 10pm without a Holiday Inn wristband on, they will be forced to escort you out. This is to prevent the massive number of non-hotel attendees who were at the hotel a years ago during Fest stirring up trouble late night. Since we have started this rule it has made the hotel much cooler and your stay much more of a private FEST party! You are paying good money to stay here so you would like to enjoy it right?

Here's the skinny on the Paramount Plaza

Just like years past, this is the chill-out get-away hotel for those of you that don’t want to party ‘round-the-clock while you’re here. The Paramount is by far the nicest hotel in Gainesville in terms of location and scenery; they have a killer outdoor pool that looks out over Biven’s Arm Lake, so you can camp out here with your special someone and enjoy cocktails served in coconuts while relaxing next to the lake and chilling out with some gators. This is a quieter hotel, not to say that it isn’t awesome but it’s definitely not the wild and crazy Holiday Inn. Like last year, they’ll be running FEST drink and food specials from their in-house restaurant and bar. PARAMOUNT also runs a shuttle in the mornings to the Holiday Inn for Registration and getting closer to downtown.

Let's be straight. This Archer Road hotel is not the closest hotels to all the FEST action. Like the Paramount Plaza, these hotels are more the sit-back-and-relax by-the-pool-and pour-me-another-pina-colada kind of places for those of you that like to party in doses. Still they are only a mere 4 miles from the FEST mayhem, that's just a short and sweet cab ride away or a short ride on a city bus. The Comfort Inn and Holiday Inn Express offer a few more attractions to visitors than a downtown hotel could during the days before and after FEST. Located walking distance to 100+ American chain restaurants and shopping, you will have the opportunity to get more out of your visit to Gainesville. Just off of I-75, these hotels are also on the easiest route to the Orlando/ Tampa International Airports and theme parks. With some suites and Jacuzzi action offered at these hotels and rates lower than the original FEST hotels, you can stay the full week at a lower price and get the best that American Consumerism has to offer. Not to mention the free breakfast, free WiFi, and outdoor swimming pools. Once the last band has turned off their amp and you've drunk the last drop of PBR that your liver can handle, you'll have a quiet pool, good eats and the Florida sun to escape to.
