Just because I had such a difficult time making this happen last minute last year, I wanted to see who might be traveling in a group from Chicago or the suburbs to the Fest. I had to fly into one of the major airports last year and then share a ride but I would prefer driving straight there.

Im going down from Chicago. Im in the southeast suburbs in Indiana. Still debating flying or driving.

Justin from Underground Communique Records and the guys from All Eyes West and probably The Bomb will all be coming from Chicago. No idea what their plans are but it could be worth contacting them to find out.

I'm traveling from chicago too! I was looking for a way to get down there last year and never made it. I would prefer to drive too if possible/cheaper. Hopefully gas isn't $5 a gallon by then. I know at least 2 more people who would possibly interested too, but as of right now i am looking out for a ride for me.

Possibly some sort of caravan?

I've been crunching a few numbers.

If gas is around 4.50 a gallon (hopefully lower) and we rented a 7 passenger van with 7 passengers it would be roughly $250 a person to drive down there and back from chicago.

That includes:

Van rental
Extra Mileage
Gas

we'd have to leave somewhere between 6pm-9pm Wednesday night to make it there for early registration Thursday.

Looking at current airfare, this doesn't seem that crazy.

Thoughts?

Well I actually flew down there last year, but that took me to airports outside Gainesville on Thursday night and left me having to find a ride into Gainesville Friday morning because all the shuttle services were pretty fucked. It wasn't bad but I have more vacations/holidays accrued from my work and to be honest I don't mind spending a little extra time driving down there. One of the better parts of the experience would be sharing a car down there with some people who share similar music interests and jamming to some tunes.

So far, I have friends going, but they are not leaving from the Chicago area so I'm still keeping ideas open.

Hey to everyone one driving from Chicago. If you have room in your automobile could you be so kind as to bring me some old style?? I will pay you for them plus some extra for your troubles and buy ya a few beers if I see ya at any of the venues...thanks if anyone can help me out and no worries if ya can't.

We might be coming to Chicago for a few days midweek the week before Fest. It's not set in stone yet but if anyone hears of any shows going on around that time could you post info here as it might sway our decision to visit.

If we do make it I wanna take my friend to Delilahs (yeah I know it's all a bit hipster now but it still sells Strongbow on tap!) so if anyone fancied a pre-fest meet up then that would be nice!
