Alright, so for the last few years I've wanted to make the trip down to Fest but have never been able to. I finally decided that this year its gonna happen no matter what. The only problem is money is a bit tight right now and I'm not sure how fast I can put together all the money for the ticket and hotel room.
So my question is to anyone who has been to Fest before, exactly how fast has it sold out in the past? For not only tickets, but the hotel rooms. I'm mainly looking at the Holiday Inn cause thats the center of it. I just don't want to buy a ticket now, and then find out that when I have the money for a hotel, everything thats remotely close is booked.

It sold out faster last year than ever before... I'm assuming it will sell out even faster this year.. the buzz around it even as early as april is ridiculous... I'd by a ticket now.. you can plan on all the hotels being sold out quick... just post that you're looking for a place to stay.. or camp in someones front yard or sleep in your car.. it's the Fest dammit.. don't miss this shit. really though I have a sick feeling this year is going to sell out really quick. I can't tell you how many twitter things and facebook posts i've seen about this being someone's first year to come to the Fest... kind of like you.

Yeah I'm definitely gonna get a ticket right away. But its more the hotel situation that has me worried. Cause it sounds like getting in a decent one is half the fun of Fest, and I don't want to miss out.

well last year they did it in decreasing waves, the last of which sold out in 1 minute and 22 seconds (250 tix i think) so if you miss the bus on this one go use the internet in japan for the next release, maybe your browser speed will save you

Judging by last year (the only year I've known it to sell out, every other year you could buy tickets until the last minute) you will definitely be able to get a pass close to Fest. Last year, there were all kinds of people trying to get rid of theirs on the boards and during the festival. Hotels– that's more of a crapshoot. Yes, people do try to unload spots in their rooms and entire rooms, but it's less certain and more expensive. However, there are a handful of people in town who allow camping in their yard.

Dude, my first Fest i slept in the back of my car, or found someones floor/couch to crash on, ive been doing it every year since, and wouldnt change a thing. try it man i think youll like it, youll at least have a lot of extra money for beers to help you sleep.

get a Fest pass, wait for the hotel. if you have a credit card, you can make a reservation for a room but they dont charge it until you go... well maybe not if you buy the holiday inn package now...
