This year during the Fest Common Grounds will be providing a bag check service. We'll be set up in a big Uhaul truck in our parking lot for the duration of the Fest. This bag check will cost $5 a day and allow you access to your bag thoughout the day so if you buy some records or a shirt or whatever you can put it with your other stuff. We will also have various boxes in case you have loose items.
We will be strongly requesting that items are not left overnight. And even more strongly requesting that items are left after sunday night.
More details will be available at the truck. We open starting at 5:00 Friday
Thanks

Seems like a good scheme to get free merch to me!
That being said, awesome! This makes me really happy!

for the record i think this policy was terrible, i didn't have a hotel room and carried stuff for most of the Fest since i didn't know where i was sleeping. this was fine because no one cared about bringing in bags besides common ground. i didn't know about this policy and when i tried to get into common ground sunday night the people at the door were total dicks about it (they said i should just hide my bag, containing all my clothes, sleeping bag, traveling supplies, etc in the parking lot. when i asked why they didn't bother explaining and pretty much told me to get lost, totally rudely) so i just went in the back door.

it was kind of sexist, I couldn't bring in my drink or anything, but if I put it in a girl's purse, it was fine... shitty

i thought this was ridiculous. personally, as a girl who does carry a purse usually, i would never at the Fest. thats just dumb. bookbags all the way. i tried to make my bookbag look like a purse but they still wouldnt let me in and i refused to pay $5 because im cheap.

bag check is a great idea if you wanna buy a lot of merch, or carry food/drink with you, but you also wanna mix it up in the thick of the crowd.
I only bought one LP at the end of Saturday night, and I just carried it in a plastic bag on my bike. But if I was buying a ton of merch, I would have used the bag check.

Word to that. It's definitely not cool to be the guy at The Atlantic during No Trigger who repeatedly stagedived wearing a huge bag...

I've gotten to the point where I pretty much avoid Common Grounds like the plague during Fest. Too many kick-outs, shut-outs, and dickish interactions with staff. I hate to hate, but I got to call it like I see it.
On a more feng shui note, it really seems that CG's layout works best when they're at maybe half to 2/3rd's capacity, with patrons equally dispersed throughout the premises.
fuck it, ima gonna just post up at the kickstand next year with a bunch of beer and personal items in a kitchen sink.

I generally love Common Grounds, but it was way too crowded for Lemuria and Able Baker Fox, especially considering my state at the time. Austin Lucas was cool there. PIB was amazing there last year.

I was abit annoyed about this as I had all my cards frozen so was limited to the dollars I had brought over with me. My bag was a small cloth record bag which had a few purchases in it. On the Saturday I was forced to check it in becuase I wasn't allowed in with it yet girls in there had exactly the same type of bags if not bigger ones. I wasn't intent on tearing it up in the pit or owt, just wanted to stand and watch bands so that kinda sucked!

I checked my bag on Friday, but then didn't bother on Saturday or Sunday because none of the other venues cared that much. Although it is a good idea in so far as buying alot of merch it sucks when you don't have time to stop at Common Grounds to drop off said merch before having to make it to another venue.
