This is a message from us New Orleans punks that went to The Fest to the asshole who parked in front of us on Main Street:
Fuck you. We took your picture to share with friends as you took your bike out the back of your car. We watched you assemble the bike and ride off. We were going to share your picture and have a laugh. Then you came back while one of us was getting ready to leave and the other one was at BloodBath & Beyond at the sidebar. you decided to badmouth us and be a dick to the female half of our company.
See, we didn't have nice, comfortable beds, some of us wore wet shoes for three days, some of us were fucking exhausted. We had eight hours of driving ahead of us, we had been drinking when you drove up. We fested for eight more hours before coming back to the car prior to your asshole comments.
Fuck you, you bike punk poser douchebag. Go turn your flag magnet upside down.

Uhh, so what is wrong with driving up to Fest, and bringing a bike with you? We did that too. It was a great way to get around without having to walk everywhere. Sounds like the onlypoint of conflict you have to discuss is the fact that this random person had something not so nice to say about the female half of your group. Maybe you should have focused your attention on that instead. So what if he had a comfortable bed to sleep in....so did we! We stayed at our friends house. Instead of bitching and moaning about non issues worry about what was said.
PS, I'm not the dude that did this, but I'm not going to feel guilty because I drove a van up there, had friends that let us stay, brought bikes, made sure that I stayed out of the rain. You're just as much of a tool!
PSS, The whole poor me thing wheres thing when you've been a member of this board since June. You obviously have computer access, probably at your house. You knew since at least August when Fest would be. Had you prepared (like saving up money for a hotel room, asked around for a floor to sleep on, etc), you wouldn't have been cold and wet!

We think its kind of funny when locals bring bikes from a few miles away to ride within a 4 block area. If you're riding your bike as an alternative to a car, are you then saying that you would drive your car from venue to venue if you didn't have your car? We thought it was funny because bike punk poseur guy was just using his bike as a continued extension of his punk uniform, which, lets face it, he was staylin' pretty hard.
We didn't bitch to anyone regarding our situation, we just didn't expect bike punk poseur kid to talk shit to us for hanging out in our car.
PS: The Second post script is labeled with two Ps, "PPS", not "PSS".

And I'm certain that you spoke with him about this situation, and it was exactly as you said right. I mean after all, because you are punk you're obviously privy to everything...full disclosure. Who cares what his motive was. His life. I'm sure he could say that you were punker than thou, and that you were just wearing your uniform by wearing clothes with patches, or wearing a hoody, etc...Everyones got something to prove. Otherwise, who really cares. Live your life, Fest is over

Ateek, I'd appreciate you getting your grammar and words correct before getting philosophical.
Fest is over, you are correct.
Nobody likes being talked down upon, especially about where they're from, by some kid who looks like that in the picture. I think that's the issue at hand.
Yea, you travelled to the Fest and brought your bikes. You're so smart for that. Good for you. Bikes are so hip, and so in. But, his license plate obviously states he lives IN Gainesville. I know I would have simply taken my bicycle as means of transportation, rather than shoving it in the back of my car. It was obviously all for show, when we saw the same kid simply walking the bike around town, rather than actually riding it. So stop trying to make an arguement for yourself when there isn't one. We never said anything against your bicycle ethics.
And what does privy have anything to do with "being punk"?
Nobody here said anything about being punk. We just noticed the extreme mall-make-over punk outfit this guy sported. So what? Nobody else wore crap like that. That shit was over with in 1989.
You move on with your life too, buddy. And stop takin up for people you don't know..
oh and P.S. it's wears thin. not wheres. that's not a word. [It's where's. as in, where is. good job ]

You know, if you want to correct my grammar and spelling of words, that's fine. But please, oh please don't mention that I am talking down to someone, when I believe that you just did the same.
Also, I never said anything about bike ethics. I could honestly give two shits if someone rode on a bike, rode in a car, or walked from show to show. Perhaps he was smart for parking his bike at one venue, and riding from that one to the next. So on and so forth. I think (if he was drunk like the first message said) that is much better than just driving from venue to venue. Maybe the car was borrowed from a friend up there. You don't know all of the circumstances behind what happend. Again, allI said was who cares what his motives are!?! Again, the point of conflict would be better stated that he was an asshole because of his comment. Lest we forget that the original letter jumped to a fair amount of conclusions itself!
There were tons of assholes there last weekend...that is the nature of the beast. It isn't going to attract everyone that people find 100% desireable. Believe it or not, that dude, and any of the other douchcicles that were there are desireable to someone. If he talked down to someone because of race, sex, etc, that should be the point of contention, not the fact that some dude was weeling his bike around town.
Yes, there were plenty of mall punks there, but then again there were tons of grizzled asses there as well. What's the difference? They're both assholes!
PS: If your'e going to be the ass to correct me, then please note that you have, on a few occasions, left sentences to stand alone as a paragragh. Check your MLA book, and note, a paragraph is composed of four or more sentences. Now I realize that I just did the same, but who cares!?!

It's easy for people from out of town to forget that not everybody lives directly on University AVE. Some people live much further away...and it makes more sense to bike once you're downtown rather than fight for parking.
But who fucking cares? Really. This isn't middle school; stop caring about people's clothing or how they get around. It's just fucking petty.
Grow up and stop arguing about spelling because it's your only legitimate comeback to somebody who put you in your place.

Ding. Ding. Ding.
This post is made for gainesville people to be aware that we are in town from out of town. We are punks. We don't have that much money. We make do with what we have. Just because we're in the car at one point and in the car again at another point doesn't mean we're in the car all day. Don't talk shit to us and we'll just laugh at you in our own stupid little joke.
We had fun and got along with everyone for 3 days on our trip when suddenly one local kid was an asshole to the female half of our company. We basically want you locals to tell this guy not to be an asshole to out of town people.
As far as people who don't live on University, thats what Bikes are for. I live 10 miles from work and I ride there every day. Its called an alternative source of transportation. We saw him walking his fucking bike from place to place during that day. He's a poser. We know he is and so does he. Shit, we're all posuers in some ways. We didn't care until he decided to shit talk us.
It was stupid of me to fuck with someone's grammer and spelling here, but I'm a fucking sucker and I can't resist that stupid shit.
If you know this kid just let him know his comments weren't cool and weren't appreciated.

The point is, however valid your points may be, when you go about them in a way that focuses mainly on his crimes against fashion rather than his crimes against the dignity of your female friend--nobody is going to take you seriously. You're right, biking is a great alternative source of transportation. i couldn't agree more. I've never even had a car or driver's license. And maybe your're correct, perhaps he did just bring that shitty Walmart brand mountain bike around just to look "cool".
And honestly, I doubt anybody knows that dude. I doubt I know anybody that drives a car that nice.
