Appears it has happened before!

....this is not the first time in the band's 12-year history the name has caused a commotion.

Bikes sporting similar stickers at college campuses in Ohio and Philadelphia led to building closures, arrests and the bikes' destruction by bomb squads acting on the assumption the sticker was announcing a real threat.

Its happened quite a few times over the years. Post-911 world = scared of bike stickers.

Here's three other instances:

On March 02, 2006 at 5:30 am an Ohio University police officer spotted a bicycle attached to the Oasis restaurant bearing a promotional sticker for the band. The officer saw the words, "This Bike Is a Pipe Bomb" and became concerned. The area was cordoned off, and part of the campus was closed for several hours. The bicycle was subsequently destroyed by the Athens bomb squad despite assurances from the bike's owner that it was just a sticker. The owner, a graduate student, was initially charged with inducing panic, a misdemeanor. However, the charges were dropped a few days later. Later the student was awarded money for the damages to his bicycle.[1][2] Ohio University (OU) is a public university located in Athens, Ohio that is situated on a 1,800 acre (7. ... Athens is a historic college town in the southeastern part of the U.S. state of Ohio, best known as the home of Ohio University. ...

A similar incident occurred in 2001, when a police officer spotted and detained a woman at an Austin, Texas peace rally. Her bicycle was also labeled with the band's sticker. The woman was released after the band's existence was confirmed.[3] Austin is the capital of the U.S. state of Texas and the seat of Travis County. ...

On Tuesday, March 14, 2006 Bellarmine Hall at Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia, PA was evacuated because of another bicycle with the band's name painted on it. No charges were filed.[4]

It happened once here in Milwaukee.

Sucks too, cause I always wanted to do that. Maybe on my mini bike, I don't ride it much...and when I do I usually don't leave it in any once place very long. Still, probably not a good idea.

Stupid American paranoia.

people probably should have enough common sense to not put t asticker that says "THIS BIKE IS A PIPE BOMB" on a BIKE. I mean, it is a complete and grammatically correct sentence that makes a declaration, and it is easy to see how one would think that applies to the object it describes. But I guess all those cops and teachers and non-punks just must be total losers out of the loop for not knowing it is the name of a band.

And something tells me that not every person with that sticker on their bike is going to have the bomb squad on them.

Pure chance of having that much of a stickler of a cop sees the bike just sitting someplace...which my bike almost never is...
