I thought I would find a beer thread in here somewheres, but to no avail. I was inspired by the "Festbeer" thread and decided I'd share my discoveries.
I've had two of these brewers' beers and let me just say...wow. Most of them are expensive, but you get snockered mighty quick, so I'd say you spend as much as you would to get buzzby berkeley on Pabst:

I especially love the Gulden Draak.

well, I've been trying to get some real micro-brew talk going in that festbier thread, and there was also this thread earlier-
http://www.noidearecords.com/Fest/board ... light=beer
I'm not into nearly as much foreign beer as I am smaller US brewers. I got a Belgian variety pack one time that had a few Van Steenberge beers, and I thought they were only so-so.
You live in NC though, so you can get Highland Brewing all the time. Bring me some of their stuff. http://www.highlandbrewing.com

Ah! I knew there was some sort of beer thread floating around. Oh well. I haven't tried the Highland, but Duck Rabbit is where it's at as far as NC beer. Yum:

I'd gladly bring some NC beer when I fly down for the Fest. I'm not sure how that works or IF it works when you're flying.
Also, I changed the language of my post. I guess by "microorganic" I meant the yeast within beer.

ah, unfiltered, live yeast, or as the Bristish call them, "Real Ale"
I do prefer my beer to have sediment, but I don't hold it against it if it doesn't. most of Bell's beers have some healthy sediment. their Two Hearted Ale is my favorite IPA.
I forgot about Duck Rabbit, they're good too. Haven't had any of that in YEARS. Do y'all get Terrapin up there?

Yessir on the Terrapin. Never had it. I'm guessing you'd suggest it?
Do you visit NC often or something?

Years ago, my girlfriend went on a family vacation to NC and brought me back some Highland and Duck Rabbit. I try visit Atlanta a few times a year, and always drinks lots of beer that I can't find in FL, including Highland.
Been drinking Terrapin in Atlanta for years (it's brewed in Athens), but luckily they just started getting in FL this past year. Their Rye Pale Ale is amazing, nice full flavor, but smooth, and light bodied enough that you can drink it all day.

Awesome. I'll have to try Terrapin, then.
What is the protocol with taking alcohol with you on a flight?

I think flying with bottles is OK, as long as they are in your checked luggage, and packed in the middle of clothing or something, so they have some padding.

my tongue is far too pickled to differentiate b/w "slumming" beers and $9-a-bottle brew.
it's all tasty to me.

Thanks. I might have to work something out then. Because sharing is fun.

Some of my favourite beers/beer related things right now are as follows:
Zerodegrees - a micro brewery right in the middle of Cardiff that does a great selection of awesome beers that frequently change but always taste great. - http://www.zerodegrees.co.uk/beer.html
Badger Ales - more specifically, their 'Golden Glory', which is flavoured with melon and peach and tastes amazing. - http://www.hall-woodhouse.co.uk/beers/b ... nglory.asp
Staropramen - really great czech lager.
----
this is the best thing ever, a touring beer festival with over 200 different ales, lagers and ciders! it's dirt cheap and we always go for a marathon drinking session.. http://www.camra.org.uk/page.aspx?o=273524

Yeah anything by Badger breweries is pretty much a winner i'd say. Golden Glory used to be my favourite but now I'm more in favour of Tangle Foot and Long Days.
I love staropramen, especially when you get it in the pub in a staropramen glass, its like a vase.
And tho' it's not beer, Green Goblin cider is fuckin beautiful.
