Cool, do I have to redownload this or just update the current one?

You'll definitely need to install a new version. There's a lot of stuff that'll be changed for this year, I reckon.

It'll pop up as an upgrade from Google Play (formerly the Android Market)

Hey John. Any news on this?

I've been idly plugging away at some stuff, but nothing major to report. Real life/my day job have been eating up a lot of time.

OK, now that the schedule is out I should be able to make some real headway on this. Hope to get a quick update out over the weekend*; just new schedule/map/images. Actual feature update to come down the line.

* subject to real life not fucking up my planned nerd time.

I have not used this app as this is my first Fest so this may already exist...but it would be awesome if there was something included that gave real time wait times at each venue (maybe bored people in line could keep the times updated?). That way you can make a decision of which shows to head to and how long to allow for (especially if some of the venues are to capacity)...just a thought :D

It's a neat idea, but I don't think it's really feasible. Sorry!

maybe a way of checking in at a location so you can see who is where? kinda like a foursquare check-in? just a thought... or a mini-game where you can get a reward for hi-five-ing other app users at the Fest? most high-fives wins!

Both this and the previous idea would require some kind of server for these to talk back to, which I could write, potentially, but I don't think I have time for this year.

I am so happy to say that I do not understand at all what you are talking about.

It was sad how many people were paying attention to their phones instead of bands over the last few years. It is going to be a magical day when you young folks lift your heads and realize there is a whole really real world out there.

As for wait times, lines of people are so fluid that you would have to have a person dedicated to timing the lines and posting the results. Then it would be just like a corporate amusement park. Well, more like one than it already is.

hahahaha!

we can only hope that the lines are as you described. I've never been to a show/concert where the lines were fluid, i have been in line to release fluids and thought i had a better chance of getting the bartender to give me free drinks...

i love apps that can distract me from bothersome shit like waiting in line... as far looking at phones while bands are playing that can be distracting but i doubt that if the band is melting your face then your going to want to use your phone for anything but to get more of your buds to come post-haste and get their faces melted as well... :facemelt:

I didn't see anything in the store yet. Did you get this done?

Also, are you using the same API version as last time, so it works on my 2.2.1?

I used it last year and it was great, looking forward to seein whatcha got this year. But now that I have a newer phone with a bigger screen that sucks the life out of the battery, Im not sure the app will help much after 11pm. :)
